Bright Futures Pocket Guide: Guidelines PDF

This is a great little pocket book and includes the important things to look for or ask about when providing routine well care to children. I give a copy of this to each of my medical students and encourage them to review it before going into the room to see the patient.

In regards to physical development or screening that is what this book is used for. On each age group it lists what should be done at that age and suggests what screening should be done at that visit. ie BP, head size, lead level, etc. If you are looking for weight change at each age group take a look at the WHO (world health organization) growth chart. Knowing the rate of change probably isn't that important to your patients, just plot the points and show them the curve.

Again, keep in mind that this is meant to be a pocket guide for the full text. If it included the vaccine schedule it would be out of date within 1 year of print. It does well with anticipatory guidance.

One more thing, if you are not into having a physical copy of the pocket guide you can download this exact thing in PDF format for free and legally from the AAP website.

Thr Bright futures pocket guide great for anyone treating pediatric patients or in nursing or medical school. I would highly recommend this book. I am in my last rotation as a family nurse practitioner and I use this book daily.
