The Massachusetts General Hospital/McLean Hospital Residency Handbook of Psychiatry PDF

This book was smaller and thinner than I thought it would be for the price I was paying, but after I looked inside, I realized that it was packed with the essentials and no junk! It is a very useful tool that I wish I had in my 1st and 2nd years of residency in Psychiatry, especially when I was on the inpatient and consultation/liason services. It is still useful for the latter years of residency though.

This is one of the newest handbooks out there!!!( i personally own a number of them)..I must state that its one of the best I have seen so far...pretty comprehensive for its size..some highlights are the focus on approach to different clinical situations which are very well written and immensely useful in clinical practice(such as being Oncall!!)..I would highly recommend this book to fellow residents!!!

Human Anatomy PDF

I used this book for an undergraduate Anatomy course, it is virtually THE SAME as the 5th edition with the exception of a few (four to be exact) pictures. Do you need the new photos?? No. Why? Because they are shown in other parts of the book anyways.
The only other difference is that they "updated" a select few of the "old terms" to "newer terms" (terms NOT widely used or taught) it caused a huge problem when referring to something specific in lectures and labs, our instructor even had our class cross them out or add the more commonly used terms to our books.
The book is also massive and very awkwardly shaped; it will not fit into any book bag or backpack ever. Sadly I was one of the only students in my class who's book binding lasted through the semester too--everyone had problems with pages falling out and the binding simply ripping apart. Sad because at over a hundred dollars it should make it through a simple 18 week class!! I worked in a bookstore for years and was shocked as I've never seen that happen to so many people.
My advice is to buy an older edition as it's more than half the cost.

This book was required for an Anatomy 1 class. I elected to buy it new through Amazon thinking that it would be the same as the package available from the school bookstore. While I saved about $50.00, I did not receive the CD and the atlas that was packaged with the bookstore version; this fact was not clearly stated in the book description. Otherwise, I have no complaints. Oh wait, yes I do - the book weighs a ton and is very unweildy.

Saba & McCormick's "Essentials of Nursing Informatics" is an exceptional text and reference for new and experienced informaticians. Beginning with the history of informatics, it guides the reader through the hardware of computer systems, how information systems are designed and built, and the role of information systems in clinical practice and healthcare. Important contemporary topics, such as terminology and data standards, evidence-based practice, Web 2.0, and many, many others, are thoughtfully discussed and illuminate these sujects. I highly recommend this book to the novice and to the accomplished informatician, as well as those interested in exploring this important specialty.

Informatics is a newer field in nursing. I needed to take a class to expand my knowledge in the field. This book offers a very detailed explanation to ensure that your knowledge is based in fact. Well written and very concise. I know that many will buy this book because it is required, but if you are looking to purchase a book to read on your own to gain knowledge, rest assured that this book will give it to you.
