Adult and Family Nurse Practitioner Certification Practice Questions PDF

Hi Everybody! I took the exam end of the ANCC Adult NP exam and passed. I just found I was searching for some concrete advice and thought some of you might find this helpful!

What to take the ANCC or ANP? It came down to discussing to former NP students. In the circle of students I knew no one had taken the ANP exam and that made me wonder how come? There are rumors that the east coast hospitals prefer ANCC over ANP, but I could not find information to confirm that rumor. I did not want to take the chance of going against what the majority has done thus far. I am planning to stay in the Northeast area so hence my decision.

In regards to the exam I feel like I studied the right amount for myself ( 3 months.) The exam turned out to be somewhat I expected and mostly not what I expected. The ANCC exam I feel is more geared towards knowing the role of nurse practitioner and research oriented questions ( I felt as if I was re-reading my research!) Of course, it could be that I remember this because this is what I found frustrating. It is quite possible those questions I found frustrating were the 25 questions that were thrown out. The clinical questions regarding disease management were straight forward and I felt like Fitzgerald herself wrote some of the questions (possible, right?)

I feel what prepared me the most was a combination of my class lectures, Fitzgerald and Hollier study guides!

In regards to tips for next round of students:

1) Attend the Fitzgerald course soon after graduation.

The course provides a review book, following each section there are print out. Print each area out. She does not cover three topics during the actual lecture. It is the teenager portion, elderly portion and legal/ethical area.
I just completed my AANP certification test yesterday! I am an outgoing nurse and I learn best by using all venues (hearing, reading and writing) so after spending two weeks with Dunphy and becoming disappointed and frustrated with my progress, I put it away and changed my plan. I had a forty-five day plan and I mapped out every single day by dividing each system into a day of introduction, review and mini-system tests. Some systems I spent four days on (weaker areas) and other tests I spent two days. If you are an outgoing person who enjoys humor while learning start with:
1-APEA--Amelie Hollier's NP review series (You can go to her review or watch the review on line or purchase the review) Now Hollier started each venue by shared the 5-6 most common disease processes you would see on the exam (and you will) and then she went into further detail by sharing funny stories. Her review made learning serious yet fun! Some say they have trouble getting acquainted to her dialect but as a country girl myself, I appreciated the cultural aspect of others seeing that although we have this dialect, we have a powerful brain too--BE SURE to purchase her review book for a system overview of mini-tests and the final 3 long tests! As you can see...SHE WAS MY FAVORITE!!! Yes there were minor typos but get over it and move on!
2-NP review by Maria Leik--This book is a great read. It feels as if the author is sitting right next to you. She also has 500 general entry- to-practice questions in her book too. Again minor typos but you can still learn so much from her.
3-Fitzgerald's NP Review--I attended the face-to-face review but listened to the CD review with a colleague and doing this was helpful but it will depend on your learning style.
