Schwartz's Principles of Surgery, Ninth Edition PDF
Schwartz's Principles of Surgery, Ninth EditionI have completed this one volume 1800 pages classic text. I read cover to cover the 5th edition when I was a surgery resident. Now as a Board Certified Urologist with 12 years experience I have found this stable in surgical literature much improved from a clinic standpoint but not from a technical standpoint of surgical approach this is a remarkable text. The Chapters on Colon approached to Colon Ca are superb. I also like Greenfield's text but the prose of this surgical text is both clear and more readily understood without having to constant re and review each Chapter as I found in both Sabiston's and Greenfield's text. Unfortunately these latter text can be unclear at times almost as if they have been translated from a foreign language if at all possible. The figures and illustration are clear but not too technically challenging. Things are simplified which for me demonstrate the points more clearly and more readily. The few basic science Chapters are also very successful and stress important points without the minutia thats almost endemic in Sabiston's and Greenfield's. I wish it was in two volumes , however, I remember saying the same thing with the old edition I first read. But I often would not bring both volumes with me and was always missing the volume I left at home, so one volumes is less time consuming ultimately. A great read, simple to understand and with a minimal amount of time which greatly expand your knowledge base with a great update on current surgical thinking.By Serge Marinkovic MD
This is the standard "bible" for surgeons. When I trained, I used the 3rd edition so there is a lot of up to date information in this newest edition that includes molecular basis of many surgical diseases. This is a "must have" book for surgeons in training or as a reference book to keep up to date for practicing surgeons.By L. D. Griffith
