DAT Flashcard Study System: DAT Exam Practice Questions & Review for the Dental Admission Test PDF

I recently purchased these, hoping they would supplement the Kaplan flash card set for the DAT that I currently have. Instead of having a regular formatting for flash cards (quick question/short response), these seemed to be copy-pasted directly from a text book. The answers are lengthy, indirect, and there's little to be gained from reviewing them that one couldn't receive from a text book.

Specific Issues:
1. The majority of the cards say "Describe the basics of ______" rather than asking specific question
2. Answers are too lengthy for an association-based test
3. Formatting of responses isn't reader-friendly (paragraphs rather then bullets)

Overall, I would not suggest this flash card set for anybody, and I wish I could receive my money back for this purchase.

This flash card set is very helpful when reviewing for the DAT Exam. Seems to be current for everything that was covered in the exam. The set comes in three different formats, so no matter what your needs are, there is a version for you. I prefer ebook/Kindle versions for most things I order, though I appreciate a good hard traditional set of flashcards. These all have lots of information on them and the questions are satisfying enough to me since they cause you to really think hard and work on your information recall. The writers have found that it is better to have spaced repetition - repetition being the key word here. This improves my memory recall by leaps and bounds. Starting out I may have a difficult time, but with every repetition I remember more and more, and different bits and pieces of information. By the time I have gone several rounds with the flashcards, I have been able to formulate my own answers in my own words. It is similar to the effect of teaching others; you will learn even more about the subject by teaching it. I thought the format of the answers was fine, there are no bullet points (at least not in the version I have), but points are separated by spacing the lines. I am a very visual learner, so while things like bullet points are helpful, the spacing of the words was equally helpful. This flashcard set is not a cheat and go kind of thing; these flash cards are best suited for someone who wants to legitimately learn the information.
